Your college or university requires us to identify you by both Name and ID number on the scholarship check. The check won’t be processed without this information.

An official transcript comes to us directly from your educational institution. A paper transcript will generally have an embossed seal while an electronic one will have “official transcript” watermarked on the paper. We recommend electronic official transcripts as they come to us quickly after you request them. Some smaller schools do not have the capability to send electronic transcripts. In that case, request that the official transcript be sent to: Trustees of the New Castle Common, 807 Frenchtown Road, New Castle, DE 19720. If you choose to have it sent to you, do not open it before getting it to us. Using an official transcript provides assurance that no one has tampered with it.

In most schools you can request your transcript directly from the website for a nominal fee. In some cases, you may have to go to the Registrar’s Office to request it.

That is not an official transcript. When time is an issue and we haven’t received your official transcript, we sometimes will ask that you share the unofficial one with us so we can move forward with decision-making. However, scholarship funds are not released until we have your official transcript.

It often takes so time for the scholarship checks to wend their way through various offices at your institution. Anything we can do to shorten that time helps. Sending the checks directly to the office that handles them is simple expediency. A check sent to a general school address just takes longer to get to where it needs to go.

Please contact us as soon as the move is confirmed and let us know the address. If you will still be living within the City limits, then we will just make note of the address change. If you will no longer be living in the City of New Castle, then you will no longer qualify for the Trustees scholarship.

Yes, we would like to have your final transcript so that we can congratulate you and confirm completion of your studies. We keep records of how many of our scholarship recipients have completed their studies.

Four years is our goal but things like illness, change of majors, pandemics, etc. do happen, so let us know if this is the case and the committee will consider your request for a semester extension.
